Event Info:

The System is a 1 hour fitness class targeting climbing specific muscle groups and their antagonists(the opposing muscle groups that help balance you). When ALL of your muscles work together, not just your pulling ones, you’ll climb better and efficiently.

Class Structure

  • Prehab: shoulder stabilization exercises to strengthen the connective tissues surrounding the shoulder area, a commonly injured body part on climbers.
  • Active Warm Up: this generally consists of 5 to 10 minutes of active excercises designed to work the large muscle groups get the blood pumping.
  • Main Workout: this is the meat of the class 30 to 40 minutes of excercises specific to rock climbing targeting Finger Strength, Pulling Muscles, Pushing Muscles, Core, Stability, Technical Accuracy, and Lower Body.
  • Cool Down: generally used to stretch worked muscle groups.
  • This class uses the varying areas of the campus walls and system tiles as well as the rest of the functional fitness area behind the boulder.

General Requirements: The want to improve your climbing and overall fitness levels. The System Class is designed for beginners to experts so don’t think you need to be a 5.12 climber to attend. Also, you do not need to be able to do a pull up for the class. Shoes are required. Running, cross training, or approach shoes are recommended.

Cost: Free with a Climb Nashville membership, $15 per class for guests
Time/Day: 6pm on Wednesdays and 7am on Thursday
